PREP FOOTBALL: Vinemont falls in region matchup at J.B. Pennington 41-6

BLOUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Vinemont traveled to Blount County to face off against the Tigers of JB Pennington in a regional matchup Friday night but unfortunately for Eagles fans, the Tigers came away victorious, 41-6.

Pennington started quickly, building a 21-0 lead after the opening quarter. Early in the second quarter, Vinemont got on the board when Rush Sandlin punched it in from 4 yards out to cut the lead to 21-6.

Pennington answered right back with 10:56 remaining in the second quarter to push the lead to 28-6. Vinemont failed to convert on fourth down, giving the ball back to the Tigers midway through the second. Pennington added another touchdown to make the score 35-6 and two plays later, the Tigers intercepted a pass and were able to capitalize on the turnover with another touchdown, stretching their lead to 41-6 with two minutes left in the first half.

Neither team was able to find the end zone in the second half and the Eagles fell to J.B. Pennington on the road 41-6.

Vinemont falls to 2-4 with the loss and the Eagles will be back home to take on Madison Academy next week.
