CULLMAN, Ala. – The West Point Town Council on Monday approved the annexations of two properties into the town limits: the properties of residents Peggy Byrum and Rebecca Davis. It also held the first reading of an annexation request for the property of Terry Parker.

The council heard from Muntingh Hamman with LED Capital, which recently installed stadium lights at ball fields one, two and four. Another set of lights for the walking trail should be shipped within the week.

“The lights will be shipped in the next five to six days. It is projected to arrive the 17th of October. We are hoping to install those a week from when they arrive,” said Hamman.

In new business:

The council said it plans to put out a bid for a new ATV.

County Roads 1246 and 1218 have been repaved. “They look like superhighways,” said Mayor Gerald Schafer, “It’s going to be a few weeks before they put striping on it.”

New playground equipment has arrived and will be installed this week at the town park.

About the senior center members’ recent trip to the Cook Museum of Natural Science, Councilwoman Ashlee Phillips said, “The senior trip was awesome, and everyone had a really good time.”
