ARAB, Ala. – After cruising to a 42-0 win at Sardis last week, the Arabian Knights returned home Friday night for a huge regional matchup against Scottsboro. The Wildcats took a 7-0 lead over the Knights to start the game, but Arab responded with 28 unanswered points to earn a big, 28-7 region win over Scottsboro.
The Wildcats received the game’s opening kickoff and finished their first possession of the night in the end zone to take an early, 7-0 lead over the Knights but Arab was able to respond. The Arabian Knights answered with a scoring drive of their own, capping off a great drive on the ground with a 2-yard touchdown run by Drake Franklin that tied things up at 7 early in the second quarter.
An interception by Hayden O’Reily gave the ball back to Arab midway through the second and the Knights were able to put together another scoring drive, culminating with a 1-yard touchdown pass from Aidan Cox to Brody McCain in the final seconds of the half to put the Arab in front 14-7 going into the locker room at the break.
It took the Knights just three plays to get more points on the board in the third quarter. Cox connected with Spencer Strickland for another touchdown to get the second half started and Arab stretched its lead to 21-7. The Knights led by a pair of scores going into the fourth quarter and Arab tacked on one more touchdown in the final frame to wrap up a big, 28-7 win over the Wildcats.
The Knights improve to 5-0 win the win over Scottsboro and they’ll be back home next week for another massive regional game against Fort Payne.
