CULLMAN, Ala. – Saturday was the saving grace for the Labor Day weekend’s festivities seeing only partially cloudy skies at two of Cullman Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism’s (CPRST’s) locations: Palomino RV Resort and WildWater.
Palomino RV Resort at Burrow-Hamilton Farm hosted Labor Day festivities with local cover band The Overtones playing in the late afternoon. The beachfront by the Slippery Summit was a popular site for children and adults with the braver souls bouncing about the summit, the largest inflatable water park attraction in the area. The parking sites were filled with RVs packed with families traveling to experience the one-of-a-kind adventure found at Palomino. The hiking trails, kayaking and canoes all saw ample activity during the park’s Saturday celebration.
Guest Bridget Hanover was impressed by the offerings for all ages at Palomino as she watched her toddler play in the sand while her son and his friend walked the trails. “It’s just a good, wholesome family atmosphere,” she said. “Nobody is rowdy, and even though there’s a bunch of people staying here, it’s peaceful. We’re really glad we came.”
Meanwhile, WildWater welcomed visitors for its last weekend of the season before closing until next summer. The premier water park has seen guests from all over the country in its inaugural summer, and CPRST is eager to open the gates again next year to visitors big and small.
“We like coming here and relaxing while our children play and enjoy themselves. This is the sixth time we’ve come this summer, and we had to come this weekend to end the summer,” shared guest Maria James. “We bought the season passes the second time we came. I’ve heard people complain about the price, but it’s about the same price as all of us going to the movies. Here, we get to be active and give the children the opportunity to be outside and play instead of being inside and sitting in front of the television. We can’t wait for next year.”
