CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Board of Education (CCBOE) at its Thursday meeting commended the school system’s maintenance department for its hard work preparing the district’s 29 schools for the start of the 2022-23 school year.
“We’ve pulled off some small miracles, and I say ‘we’ very loosely,” CCBOE Superintendent Dr. Shane Barnette said. “We have probably done more projects and fixed and repaired more things over the last few months than we ever have. We just had our capital planning meeting, and we are really excited. I shared that six years ago our assessment was about an inch thick, and we agreed that nearly every page on that we had things that (were) 100% needing replaced, 10-12 things per page. This year there’s maybe one or two, maybe three on some pages. Y’all have done a phenomenal job and I appreciate you.”
The first budget hearing was held, with CFO Ed Roberson providing details on the school system’s $26.3 million budget after the capital planning board met beforehand to hash out details.
