CULLMAN, Ala. – With over 24,000 school supplies donated and $250 donated to both the city and county school systems, the United Way of Cullman County’s 2022 Stuff the Bus campaign broke previous records through the generosity of donors throughout Cullman.

United Way Executive Director Waid Harbison shared, “It was a fantastic response from Cullman this year. Last year we collected 15,000-16,000 school supplies, and this year we had well over 20,000 supplies donated. That was amazing. Desperation Church heard that we were running low and brought supplies on the last day of the drive. REHAU donated $500, and we were able to give $250 checks to the city and county schools on Tuesday. It was the most we’ve ever collected before. We want to thank the community for coming out and supporting our kids in need.”

Over at The Link of Cullman County, 150 backpacks filled with school supplies donated during the campaign were distributed on Saturday, Aug. 6 during the partner agency’s Family Food Box Giveaway.

In total,  locations across town stepped up as drop-off locations for the campaign, and volunteers put in more than 100 hours.
