CULLMAN, Ala. – TheraPlay Pediatric Sensory Gym of Cullman will host an event that brings therapeutic service providers together for an informational session for children with mental or physical disabilities and their parents or caregivers. Connect Cullman County will be held at The Little House at Art Park on Saturday, Aug. 20 from 9 a.m.-noon.
Tables will be set up where families can interact with, receive information from and make connections with representatives from local organizations that aim to assist those with disabilities.
“Each of these businesses and individuals has volunteered their time to help us at TheraPlay provide beneficial resources to our community,” said owner Janelle Britt. “We are so thankful to be making connections to better serve the children and families of Cullman County.”
Participating organizations include Flourish of Cullman, Hope Horses, Imagine ABA, Legacy Salon’s Dynea Boyd (who will provide sensory haircuts), Tiny Day Creative Play (which will provide sensory bins) and T.O.D.D.’s Club (Toddlers Overcoming Developmental Delays).
Britt shared, “Connect Cullman County will be a family-friendly event, and everyone is welcome. We are focusing on providing information to family members and caregivers, but there will be activities for the children as well. The location at Art Park offers a family-friendly playground; we will have coloring stations, bubble fun and other activities to give a glimpse into the fun services we offer at TheraPlay!”
The first 50 attendees will receive a free treat from Fro’Z Shaved Ice.
About the inspiration for the event, Britt said, “We wanted to create a space where families can have a ‘one stop shop’ to see what resources are offered locally. We have so many individuals and businesses in Cullman who truly want to help the special needs community, and our hope is that families will leave knowing they are cared about and valued.”
