CULLMAN, Ala.- The Eckenrod Ford dealership along Alabama Highway 157 held a “car enthusiasts” car show Sunday evening. The lot was blocked off so individuals could safely walk around the vintage cars. For this show, owners were able to drive up and park their show cars without any required registration.

Eckenrod Ford has hosted the “All Ford Fun Day” car show for 23 years on the second Saturday in April where they show hundreds of vintage Fords and bring in thousands of viewers. Participants are awarded Best Engine, Best Interior, Best Paint Job., etc. The winner of each show gets to showcase his or her car on the dealership showroom floor the next year.

“There are Mustang Clubs, and people come from a long way off. It’s known pretty well,” said Donnie Pearson, Eckenrod Ford sales associate. The annual show brings people from all over north Alabama and Tennessee.

But for this Sunday’s car show, any make or model vehicle was welcome to cruise in and show off.

“People can bring any car they like, it’s just a fun drive-in. Its just a cruise-in with all kinds of cars. Fords are all we show in April, but this is just for anybody that wants to bring their car out and show it off,” said Detail Manager Terry Pearson.

Eckenrod Ford hosts nearly monthly free shows for local car enthusiasts, giving them the opportunity to fellowship and show off their cars to other vintage car owners. Donnie Pearson brought his own ’55 Chevrolet that he has owned for 10 years and a ’95 Ford convertible.
