CULLMAN, Ala. – Karma’s Coffee House in the Warehouse District will soon be adding more live music nights. This Friday, July 15, Davis Smith from Memphis will take the stage from 7-10 p.m. to perform his show, “Making Sense of It All Live.”
Karma’s Event Coordinator Raina Henderson said the coffee shop has hosted live music a couple of times, but the plan is to get more new artists involved. Henderson said Karma’s has been following Smith and many artists who are just starting out to find the right fit for its atmosphere. Smith contacted Karma’s through Instagram to ask if he could come by to perform. Henderson said he matched the sound they were looking for.
“He is very talented. He does indie pop music, which we feel like really fits in with just the people that would come and listen,” she said, “and he is just starting out and releasing music on Spotify.”
Smith will be performing some original songs, as well as covers. He will have merchandise available and will interact with the crowd after his performance.
Smith’s website biography reads: Checking a box that many indie artists do today, Davis began producing music as a teenager in his bedroom. What began as covers of Owl City and John Denver became original singles crafted from raw emotion, such as “If I Do,” “Annika,” and “Right About Us,” a collaboration with Destin, Florida’s Skylar Capri. Davis is set to release his debut album in the summer of 2022. He began booking house shows after refining his songwriting, playing across the mid-south and opening for artists such as Jordy Searcy, Goldpark, and Take Lead.
Tickets for Friday night’s show are $6 online and will be $8 at the door. To purchase online, go to https://tinyurl.com/DavisSmithKarmas.
Karma’s is located at 103 First Ave. NE.
