Jacqueline “Jackie” Rodgers DeMonia was born on July 31, 1937 to William and Ida Bell (McSwain) Rogers in Cullman County, Alabama. She transitioned peacefully from her earthly home on June 15, 2022 with family members at her side.
In addition to her parents: Jackie was preceded in death by brothers: Preston, Harold, Jimmy and Bertis and sisters: Olvia Wix and Alva Caldwell.
She is survived by her sisters: Louise Carrillo and Aver Brown; her daughter: Gwendolyn Anderson-Burns of Nashville; grandchildren: S. Hunter Burns of Kentucky, Hillary E. Burns of Minneapolis, Emily-Catherine “E.C.” Burns of New York City and S. Mallory Burns of Gainesville; two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Jackie grew up in the Trimble-Good Hope area of Cullman County, and graduated from Cullman High School in 1955. Jackie enjoyed singing and playing the piano given to her by her oldest brother, Preston, when she was a child.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 24 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Moss Service Funeral Home in Cullman with a service beginning at 11:00 a.m. An interment service for the family will follow.
