JONES CHAPEL, Ala. – The Jones Chapel Fire Department is hosting their inaugural Community Day event this Saturday, June 11. It will take place at Station #1 located at 96 County Road 940 from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. The fire department will be out grilling burgers and hotdogs for anyone who wants to stop by. Inflatables will be on site for kids to play on and the emergency vehicles and equipment will be on display. Attendees can learn about the daily services the department provides while getting to know all the members of the station.
The community has come together to prepare for a great event, with Premier Bank and Harmony school loaning the department cornhole boards, Walmart donating $50 toward the food bill and Pepsi giving them a special deal on drinks and donating banners.
Chief Clint Thrasher said, “We just wanted to have an event to talk and fellowship with our community.” There is an Air Evac helicopter scheduled to fly in for display depending on availability. An extrication demonstration will be given toward the end of the event to show the community one of the complex tasks often performed by the fire fighters and first responders. Hines Towing in West Point will be donating the car for the extrication.
Thrasher expects a big crowd to come out and enjoy the activities the fire department has to offer. Everyone in the community is welcome to come learn about the emergency services and visit with their neighborhood heroes.
