HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Hanceville is hopping this summer. After last weekend’s successful Grilled Cheese Festival, the city will be hosting a Bull Bash Weekend next Friday and Saturday, June 10 and 11.

Sponsored by the City of Hanceville and Double Creek Rodeo Company, the weekend will kick off on Friday evening at 5:00 p.m. with the Parade of the Bulls, a free event for the whole family. Watch as a live cattle drive takes places in the streets of downtown Hanceville.

Following the Parade of the Bulls, Hanceville Civic Center will hold a delicious BBQ dinner where you can dine with the cowboys and get to know about their profession. Outside, there will be the opportunity to see the bulls and horses up close. For the adventurous attendees, a mechanical bull will be set up for you to try your own cowboy skills.

Tickets for the BBQ dinner are $12 and available at Hanceville City Hall or at the Civic Center at the dinner.

The following day, Saturday, June 11, will see the Hanceville Bull Bash held at C.W. Day Park. Professional bull riders will compete and food trucks, vendors, games, Budweiser beer garden and the mechanical bull will be on hand as well.

American Idol Season 16 contestant and Arab native Brandon Elder will perform a concert following the Bull Bash.

Tickets for the Bull Bash, which includes admission to the Brandon Elder performance, are available for $12 at Hanceville City Hall and online. Tickets will be available at the gate for $15.

Earlier in the day on Saturday, the 24th Annual Antique Tractor and Engine Show will be held on the campus of Wallace State Community College in Hanceville.

The free family event will feature all makes and models of antique farm equipment, featuring events like the skillet throwing contest, peddle tractor races and slow races.

Augusta’s Sports Grill’s food truck will be there along with Nana Bakes and their tasty desserts and treats. Pat’s Shrimp and Seafood will be having a shrimp boil and Young’s Farms will have their pepper jellies for sale. Everyone’s favorite homemade ice cream will make the meal complete.

Two free tickets to the Bull Bash will be given away in a drawing at the tractor show as well.

Put on your cowboy boots and plan to visit Hanceville next week!
