HANCEVILLE, Ala. – The City of Hanceville Planning Commission met on Monday evening at the Hanceville Civic Center.
Topics covered included the possibility of updating the building permit application for both residential and commercial properties, updating the building codes, training for commission members and a park model home community.
With minutes approved from their April 25 meeting, the commission moved on to discussing the building permit application process. A motion was made and passed for the commission to set a meeting with City Hall to streamline the building permit application.
The next item discussed was the city’s building codes. The city’s current codes are from 2006 and the proposal was made to update the codes. The motion passed to make the recommendation to the city council to update the building codes.
Lastly, the commission discussed the possibility of allowing a development of a park home community. The homes, similar to popular tiny mobile homes, are set on foundations. The possible land for the development is on Hopewell Road behind Taco Bell. The commission plans to further research the pros and cons of the community.
The Hanceville Planning Commission will meet on Monday, June 27 at 6:00 p.m. at the Hanceville Civic Center.
