CULLMAN, Ala. – With the highly anticipated expansion to WildWater Cullman soon to be complete, the waterpark’s staff is looking forward to a fun and safe summer this season – kicking-off with a soft opening for staff training procedures starting this Saturday, May 28 and running through June 16 – with a formal Grand Opening being held on Friday, June 17.
Cullman Mayor Woody Jacobs notes the teamwork that has gone into the construction and opening of the waterpark, “I cannot thank the team enough for their effort in getting this project completed in time for summer. WildWater is such a great addition to the community and families will be able to enjoy this park for generations to come.”
WildWater will open to the public at a limited capacity starting this Saturday, May 28, as a way for staff and lifeguards to finish sharpening their skills and prep for the summer. The soft opening with limited capacity levels will be open daily at regular operating hours and will run through June 16. Each of the four concession areas will be open for the soft opening along with all slides and attractions. Some features of the waterpark are still in progress including a set of new restrooms; however, air-conditioned portable restrooms will be available as a replacement in addition to the pre-expansion WildWater restrooms. Ticket sales for the soft opening will only be available at the gate and ticket sales will end once the limited maximum capacity has been reached each day. Online ticket sales will go live prior to the Grand Opening on June 17.
“We are proud to see the completion of the WildWater expansion coming up rapidly and we look forward to seeing members of the community enjoying the amenities of the park during our soft opening,” says Cullman Parks, Recreation and Sports Tourism Director, Nathan Anderson. “It’s exciting to see more opportunities for families of this area to enjoy a park like this close to home.”
Featuring a brand new 22,000 sq. ft. wave pool—excitedly named the Rip Tide during WildWater’s Youth Focus Group meeting with local students just last month—the park also boasts 10 thrill slides for adventure seekers, eight child slides, a splash station, drift river and numerous concessions ranging from light snacks to full meals and family packs. Cabana rentals will also available during the season along with a luxury pavilion becoming available for bookings prior to the Grand Opening—perfect for birthday parties and larger celebrations.
Several savings nights and events are planned for the waterpark throughout the season including Twilight Tuesdays where visitors can enjoy exclusive access to the newly expanded area every Tuesday at a discounted rate from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Splash-In Movie nights taking place at the wave pool on select Thursday nights with a 50% savings on admission.
