CULLMAN, Ala. – The Friends of the Public Libraries of Cullman County are hosting an Oceans of Possibilities Summer Learning Program Kick-off Party on Friday, June 3 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Cook Museum of Natural Science will be bringing some live animals for a presentation and discussion about the “oceans of possibilities.” Kids can learn about the sea while enjoying Cha Cha’s Shaved Ice.

The kick-off event was organized by the Friends of the Library who work to promote the library services of the five-branch library system in Cullman County. Friends President Tanya Allcorn said, “The Friends of the Library is a non-profit group of citizens who believe that a good library is essential to the educational well-being of Cullman. The Friends work to assist the library director, to promote and increase knowledge of functions, resources, services and needs of the library, to encourage volunteer service, help with gifts and memorials for the library and fundraisers for items that are not included in the regular budget and to sponsor related programs for the community.”

The ocean theme will carry throughout the Summer Learning Program said Library Assistant Director Josie Harrington. “We’ll have two-three programs each week—two on the weeks we are closed on Monday—several of which have an ocean and/or story theme.”
