CULLMAN, Ala. – Students at the Cullman County Child Development Center on Tuesday attended their very own prom during the school day at 1:00 p.m. Those from kindergarten to age 21 attended. The prom has always been the Tuesday before graduation which will be on Friday at 1:00 p.m. The students only had about an hour for the party before returning to class, so Principal Chris Chambers made sure that they made the most of it by dancing with the kids and getting everyone started with some group dances.
Several aides, parents, teachers and about 10 students from Vinemont High School attended the event, as well as the central office staff. Principal Chambers said that the students from Vinemont always partner with the Child Development Center to help out with decorating and dancing with the kids. The theme for the prom was “Patriotic.”
The kids of all ages had a great time dancing thanks to the DJ for the event, Richie Thompson, Next Generation pastor from Refuge Church, who donated his time to give all the students a great time. “I’m doing this, volunteering, just to love on them,” he said. Thompson is a pastor in Huntsville but grew up in Cullman. “It’s always good to come home and be a part of my community.”
