Summertime fun hits Hanceville

HANCEVILLE, Ala. – The City of Hanceville is getting ready for summer with a calendar full of events for everyone’s enjoyment.

Kicking off the entertainment was a bluegrass concert featuring Cotton Pickin’ Kids and Bama Blu-Grace this past Saturday night at the Hanceville Civic Center. With online tickets selling out, the only available tickets were at the door for the show.

Next up will be the Memorial Day weekend opening day at the Hanceville Pool at C.W. Day Park on Saturday, May 28 at 10:00 a.m.

Beginning at 9:00 a.m. on that same Saturday, Hanceville’s popular Grilled Cheese Festival will begin with bands slated to play until 3:00 p.m. A car and bike show, mobile arcade, bounce house and many food trucks will be on hand as well as the Great Grilled Cheese Cook Off at 11:30 a.m. The festival will be held at Commercial Street and Bangor Avenue.

On Friday, June 10 at 5:00 p.m. the town will host a Parade of Bulls in downtown Hanceville. Following the free parade at 6:00 p.m., a BBQ dinner with the cowboys will be held at the Hanceville Civic Center. Tickets for the dinner are available for $12 at City Hall or at the door.

The following day, Saturday, June 11, will see the Hanceville Bull Bash at C.W. Day Park. Professional bull riders will compete at 7:00 p.m. with the gates opening at 5:00 p.m. Vendors, food trucks and activities will be a part of the bash. After the competition, American Idol contestant Brandon Elder is set to perform. Tickets for the Bull Bash are available for $12 in advance at City Hall or $15 on the day of the event.
