VINEMONT, Ala. – The Vinemont Town council met on Tuesday evening to discuss whether to revoke the business license for Business Resource LLC DBA Vinemont Village and Wyoming Lot and Mobile Home Rentals LLC DBA Vinemont Estates. A previous hearing was held on April 19 for residents of the mobile home parks to voice concerns over health and safety issues. The council has decided to hold off on any decision while improvements are being made to the parks. In about a month, the council will review the situation at the parks and see if the issues have been addressed. The mayor said, “We need to touch base in a month, see what the synopsis of everybody is.” Councilmember Charlotte Cosper added, “Since our last meeting, it’s really improved.”

The town received a 2021 audit review from Larry Cooke CPA. He said that the total net position has increased by $224,000. Over $71,000 was unrestricted funds that the town could use for any projects. Cooke said there were no concerns to be had over the audit, saying, “It was another extremely good year. It was just a good clean report, as good as we’ve ever had anywhere.”

A donation was made to American Legion Auxiliary of $450 for one boy and one girl to go to State. The American Legion Boy’s State and Girl’s State are summer leadership and citizenship programs for high school juniors to participate in a mock government, hear from state officials and learn about the political process.

The council also awarded a bid for the construction of the new Jack’s turning lane to local contractor CH Harris Inc. in the amount of $228,895.20.
