HOLLY POND, Ala. – Pops in the Park is a spring concert and community event hosted at Governor’s Park brought to the town of Holly Pond by Holly Pond HS Band Director Steven Porter and the Band Boosters. Porters says there has been excitement with the band members and band boosters in anticipation of the event. “Our purpose is to bring the community together for an event that highlights the Holly Pond Bronco Bands (Beginning, Concert, Jazz Bands) and Welti 5th grade band. The idea came from: ‘Good Music, Good Food, and Good Friends.’”

Porter presented the idea for the concert at a Holly Pond town council meeting in March as an event to bring the community together to hear music performed by residents of the area. The music will begin at 4:00 p.m. with the Ol’ Timers Resurrection Band, a group made up of musicians who work at the schools and in the county between Welti and Holly Pond.

The Welti 5th grade Band will perform at 5:00 p.m., the Holly Pond 6th grade band at 5:30 p.m., the Holly Pond Concert Band at 6:00 p.m. and the Holly Pond Jazz Band at 6:45 p.m.

The Holly Pond Art and Agriculture departments will also have displays of woodworking, plaques, portraits, sketches and sculptures with unique mediums that they have worked on throughout the year. The Chat and Chew food truck and Kona Ice will be on site for purchases.
