CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman Parks, Recreation and Sports Tourism (CPRST) will be hosting its second Earth Day celebration this Friday, April 22 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the Cullman’s Art Park, located at 1031 2nd Street SW.
“We plan to help bring awareness about the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling to our community through this Earth Day celebration. Parents will also have the opportunity to register their kids for our summer STEAM camps. Registration will be available in The Little House at Art Park,” shared Jamie Kirk, CPRST’s Programs and Events coordinator.
Children are encouraged to bring an empty aluminum can and an empty toilet paper roll which they will use to craft a bird feeder and paint flowers. While the activities will be geared toward kids 12 and under, all are eagerly encouraged to attend.
Last year’s inaugural Earth Day celebration in Cullman saw the introduction of Art Park’s Reading Tree and the young participants got to paint flowers and decorate flowerpots.
First celebrated in 1970, Earth Day is held annually on April 22. With a goal of educating and supporting environmental efforts, the day is currently celebrated in almost 200 countries by over a billion people. This year’s theme is “Invest in Our Planet.”
