Alfred Sherrill “Pete” Cook, age 79, of Garden City passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born April 29, 1942 in Blount County, Alabama to Albert and Julia Dunmann Cook.
Pete was a hardworking man; dedicated to taking care of his family. He loved buying and selling cars and retired from Southern States Fertilizer. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years: Peggy Ann Tyson Cook; his parents; four brothers: Dale, Terry, Leon and Ronnie Cook and two sisters: Sandra and Sherry Cook.
He is survived by his children: Sonya (Jason) Greathouse and Thomas Sherrill Cook; grandchildren: Dustin (Kendall) Greathouse, Nikki (Philip) Johnson, Teshia (Dakota) Sellers, Destiny Cook and Tommy Cook; great-grandchildren: Shianna, Brailey, Zach and Makenlie Greathouse, Pyper, Wyatt, Riley and Ryder Johnson, Olympia Sutton and Ava Cook; brothers: Rickey Cook and Kerry Cook; sisters: Sheila Cook and Wanda Jones and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 12, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Moss Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Moss Service Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in Garden City Cemetery. Brother James “Buddy” Perkins will officiate.
