ADDISON, Ala. — Addison hosted the Curry Yellow Jackets on a very chilly Friday night and dropped a heartbreaker in extra innings 13-11.

Curry plated the first run of the game without getting a hit. A hit batter, stolen base and a Bulldog error let Curry take a 1-0 lead. Addison answered right back scoring two runs without a hit. A walk was followed by two Curry errors which allowed the Bulldogs to score two runs. After one inning, Addison led 2-1.

The Bulldogs got another run after a Braden Luker bunt single and a sacrifice moved him over to second. Lane Tubb came through with a single driving in Luker to give the hometown Dawgs a 3-1 lead after two.

Curry struck for gold as they plated five runs in their half of the third inning. A leadoff single by Eli Kennedy was followed by a ground out which moved Kennedy to second. Brodie Naramore singled but Kennedy was thrown out at the plate. The big out at home didn’t bother the Jackets as they continued to pound Bulldog pitching. With two outs, Brayden Davis singled driving in Naramore. Will Haynes singled driving in Davis. Blanton Gillespie got the fourth Jacket hit in a row and that was followed by a Trent McBride walk to load the bases with two outs. Carson Dunigan got the big hit with a single that drove in two runs. At the end of the inning, Curry had taken the lead, 6-3.

Addison came back with one of their own. A one out hit batter was followed by a Christian Roberts single. Jackson Williams walked to load the bases. Luker singled to center scoring Mac Cagle. The Jackets got out of the inning without any more damage done. At the end of three, Curry led 6-4.

Curry added another run in the fifth to go up 7-4.

The Yellow Jackets plated three more runs in the 6th.  An Addison error was followed by an out. Jacob Bentley singled and that was followed by Naramore getting hit by the pitch to load the bases with one out. Davis hit a sac fly to left scoring Caleb Alred. After another walk, Gillespie came up big with a two-run single. Curry led 10-4.

Addison wouldn’t go away as Tubbs led off with a base hit. Will Tuggle and Jed Wilkins walked to load the bases with no one out. Brody Dollar hit a sac fly to center to score Tuggle but a nice through got the runner at second base. With runners on first and third, Cagle singled driving in Wilkins. Addison was unable to score anymore but they cut the lead to 10-6.

The top of the seventh had Curry plating another run but only getting one hit. Two Bulldog errors helped the Jackets score.

Going into the bottom of the seventh it looked hopeless for the hometown Dawgs as the first two Bulldogs made outs. Briley Holt and Tubb walked and that was followed by a Tuggle laser down the third base line which scored Holt. Wilkins followed with a single which scored Tubbs. Dollar reached on an error which scored a run. Cagle walked. Roberts roped a single to center scoring two runs, but the runner was thrown out at third to end the threat. Addison had scored five runs after two outs to tie it up at 11.

The Yellow Jackets basically ended the game in the top of the eighth as Haynes led off with a double. Gillespie followed with a fielder’s choice which put runners on first and third with no one out. An RBI groundout by McBride put the Jackets up 12-11. Dunigan’s sacrifice fly to right scored the last Jacket run.

A second comeback was not in store for the Bulldogs on this night as they went down 1-2-3 in the eighth to give Curry the 13-11 win.
