Reviel Jean Phillips was ushered into heaven from her home on April 6 after an extended illness with Parkinson’s Disease. Born Tompkinsville, KY on March 23, 1932 at home.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Dewey and Gladys Ward, as well as her siblings: older brother, Earston Ward and older sister, Myrtle Morgan.

Mom is survived by her husband: Marcen Phillips; children: Debbie (Steve) Ratliff, Dana Clarke (Marshall) and Doug Phillips (Kathy); grandchildren: Matthew Ratliff (Stacey), Clint Ratliff, Patrick Phillips, Katie (Nick) Williams, Luke (Paula) Clarke, Kallie Jean Phillips and Marcus Graham (Anna) Clarke; great-grandchildren: Saige Ratliff, Amberlyn Ratliff, Lake Ratliff, Keegan Phillips, Liam Phillips, Addie Williams, Blakely Lane Clarke, Carter Williams and Aubrey Clarke and great-great-granddaughter: Greylynn Hanson.

She graduated from Gamaliel KY High School in 1950, then went to work as a LPN. She met dad in Anderson, IN and then they were later married in 1954. They immediately started a family. Mom taught Sunday School and was a true servant as well as a deacon’s wife at Anderson First Freewill Baptist Church for approximately 20 years. In 1977, they moved to Cullman, AL and for the last 37 plus years they have been members at Bethel Freewill Baptist Church.

Mom was a full-time mother first and foremost, a fabulous cook in which she grew almost everything in her garden. She once canned at least 120 quarts of her green beans one summer. Her family and friends were so fortunate to eat her wonderful cooking, but our richest blessings came from hearing her pray. She would shake the gates of heaven in a way that none of us will ever forget.

The funeral service will be Friday, April 8, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Cullman Funeral Home Chapel. The interment will follow at Enon Baptist Church. Rev. Lamar Cox will officiate the service. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service on Friday morning.

Pallbearers will be Luke Clarke, Marcus Clarke, Matthew Ratliff, Clint Ratliff, Nick Williams and Patrick Williams

Cullman Funeral Home is honored to serve the Phillips family.
