My loving husband, Keith E. Pattillo, passed through the gates of Heaven on Tuesday, April 5 2022, after succumbing to a sudden illness at the age of 75.
Keith was known for never having met a stranger, and everyone who crossed paths with him knew he had a friend in Keith. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and son-in-law.
Keith graduated from Cullman High School in 1964. He received his bachelor’s degree from St Bernard and his master’s degree from Alabama A&M.
Keith wore many hats. He taught and coached at Baileyton Junior High for six years. He worked for Cullman County Commission on Education Office for four years and was the principal at Fairview High School for the last 25 years of his career, where he touched the lives of students, faculty, staff and the community. He was known for giving his students what they needed: discipline and love. During his college years, Keith began working part-time at Moss Funeral Home. After his retirement from education, he began to work full time at Moss Service Funeral Home, where he worked his last day on April 5, 2022.
Keith was an avid baseball fan. His favorite team was the Cincinnati Reds. He was a member of the “Fab Five,” a group of principals who traveled each summer to baseball stadiums around the country, eventually seeing all 30 major league parks. He remained convinced to the end that he would have made a better general manager of the Reds than the poor excuse they had. Keith loved traveling with his wife. He even became an honorary member of her Elvis fan club, surprising her by holding their wedding ceremony in the Elvis Chapel on the grounds of Elvis’s birthplace in Tupelo, MS. They also frequently traveled with a group of close friends, eventually visiting 40 of the 50 states.
Keith is survived by his wife: Debra Dobbs Pattillo; granddaughters: Ashley (Will) Hasenbein and Taylor (Chris) Felkins; great-granddaughters: Violet Felkins and Ruth Hasenbein; daughter-in-law: Kimberly Pattillo (Ryan) Lambert; brother: Ronald (Virginia) Pattillo; nephews: Clark (Daphne) Pattillo, Patrick Pattillo and Carson Dobbs; niece: Madison Dobbs; great-nephew: Justin Pattillo; father-in-law: Preston Dobbs; mother-in-law: Frances Dobbs and brother-in-law: Mark (Tammy) Dobbs.
Visitation will be Friday evening at 5:00 p.m. for family and 5:30 p.m. for friends at Moss Service Funeral Home. The funeral will be Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Moss Service Funeral Home. Burial will be at Center Grove Baptist Church.
