MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA) officially released this year’s All-State teams Sunday morning, and the list was crowded with local standouts. Leading the pack were Cullman’ Tucker Gambrill and Good Hope’s Ivey Maddox who each earned first team honors in their respective classifications. Gambrill earned All-State Tournament Team and Co-MVP status as well after helping lead the ‘Cats to their first state championship in school history and nearby in Good Hope, Maddox helped keep the Lady Raiders near the top of the Class 4A rankings all season, capture a county championship and play their way back to the Northwest Regional Finals for the second year in a row.
The Cullman and Good Hope stars weren’t the only locals who earned a spot on this year’s All-State teams. Two more Bearcats, Jaden Winfrey and Tucker Cagle collected All-State third team and an Honorable Mention respectively and two more Raider standouts earned recognitions as well. Tanner Malin and Bailey Tetro received All-State third team honors and an Honorable Mention respectively Sunday morning. Cold Springs’ Brody Peppers landed on the 2A All-State third team and Hanceville’s Brayden Harris earned an Honorable Mention in Class 4A after a stellar season.
