Ruby Pearl Walters, age 93, of Haleyville, passed away Friday, March 11, 2022, at Haleyville Healthcare.
Ruby was born on October 24, 1928 in Hatton, Alabama. After moving to Haleyville in 1982, Ruby worked for Piggly Wiggly for 26 years. She was a Sunday school teacher for over 20 years at Living Faith Pentecostal Church of God. She loved to cook, loved music, loved people and loved the Lord with all her heart. Ruby also loved gardening, flowers, sewing and spending family time on the porch, and she especially loved all of her grandkids.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 14, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where the service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Winston Memorial Cemetery. Brother Joseph Martin and Brother Bobby James will officiate.
Ruby is survived by her daughter: Laverne Desiderio; grandchildren: Randy Boatwright, Bonnie Bailey, Wilma Stevens, Bill William, Vickie Oswalt, Jenny Misner, Monica Torres, Jeremiah Desiderio, Joseph Desiderio and Mariam Ward and 21 great-grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Melvin Walters; parents: George William and Annie Bennett; daughter: Barbara Misner; sons: Wayne Reed and Timmy Reed; granddaughter: Lillian Boatwright; grandsons: Jimmy Reed and Terry Boatwright; great-granddaughter: Bella Oswalt; six brothers; five sisters and son-in-law: Frank Desiderio.
