FAIRVIEW, Ala. – After topping Hayden on the road 4-0 Thursday, the Fairview Aggies returned home Saturday to host a pair of matchups against Decatur Heritage. Unfortunately for the home crowd, it was Eagles in both games as they rolled past the Aggies 17-4 and 10-0.

Decatur Heritage 17 – Fairview 4 (Game One)

Decatur Heritage didn’t waste any time getting on the scoreboard as a leadoff triple and a Fairview error gave them a quick 1-0 lead. The Eagles loaded the bases and one out later, back-to-back hit by pitches pushed their lead to 3-0. Crimson Wright led off the Aggie first with a single, then one out later, Parker Martin lined a single to center field. Dalton Payne drew a walk to load the bases for Gannon Black and he, too, drew a walk as the Aggies cut the Eagle lead to 3-1.

Fairview got another run in the bottom of the third inning. Lucas West hit a leadoff single and a pair of passed balls allowed Nic Gregory, the courtesy runner for West, to move on up to third base. Black drove in Gregory with an RBI single as that made it a 3-2 game. After a rough first inning, starter Parker Martin kept Decatur Heritage’s bats in check for the next three innings. The Eagles were threatening in the top of the fourth inning, but the runner got caught in a rundown between third and home and Martin tagged the runner coming home to get out of the huge jam.

Fairview got a two-out rally started in the bottom of the fourth inning. Caden Jennings got hit by the pitch, then he stole second. Wright drove him in with an RBI single to tie the game up at three, then the Aggies loaded up the bases for Dalton Payne. Payne drew a walk to force home a run as Fairview took a 4-3 lead into the top of the fifth inning. After that, though, it would be all Eagles as they exploded for eight runs in the fifth inning and six more in the sixth. Fairview couldn’t mount a comeback and they ended up dropping game one to Decatur Heritage, 17-4.

Black led the way for Fairview with a hit and two RBIs. Wright added a pair of hits and an RBI in the game. Payne ended up with an RBI and West, Martin, and Isaac Elrod each chipped in with a hit.

Decatur Heritage 10 – Fairview 0 (Game Two)

Fairview looked to bounce back in game two against Decatur Heritage, but the Eagles were too much for them once again as they got held to just two hits in the 10-0 loss.

The Eagles scored three runs in the third and sixth inning as that was more than enough run support for their pitching staff. Three pitchers combined to strike out 15 Aggie batters in the contest as Fairview ended up falling in game two to Decatur Heritage, 10-0.

Payne and Jennings finished with the only two hits of the game for Fairview (2-5). The Aggies will host Hanceville Tuesday.
