CCSO assists in car chase through multiple counties

CULLMAN, Ala. – According to a public statement by the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Deputies assisted a Falkville Police Officer on a traffic stop when the vehicle failed to yield to lights and sirens, and attempted to elude. 

The pursuit traveled through Cullman and Winston Counties before ending in the Bankhead National Forest in Lawrence County. 

“Along the way, baggies and syringes were thrown from the vehicle but recovered by law enforcement. Additionally, a female bailed from the vehicle midway during the pursuit. She was located by deputies and was not injured,” the MCSO said. 

CCSO deputies became involved in the pursuit via Alabama Highway 157 around 5:40 p.m. via eye-witness statements. 

The driver, identified as Michael Heath Hand, 45, of Madison, faces numerous charges. 

He also has two outstanding felony warrants in Morgan County and outstanding warrants with Cullman and Limestone Counties.

 He was taken into custody by the Falkville Police Officer and transported to the Morgan County Jail.
