CULLMAN, Ala. – The Friends of the Libraries of Cullman County will be hosting a Books and Brews book sale at Goat Island Brewing on Wednesday, February 23 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. The books are donations that were made to the Cullman County Public Libraries and will be priced at 50¢ each. The Chat and Chew Food Truck will also be on site. The proceeds will go toward funding events planned by The Friends of the Libraries of Cullman County.
A member of the group, Melissa Betts, said, “The funds will go back into the Friends of the Library. The Friends do all kinds of projects with those funds; anything from renovating spaces, new equipment or interactive things that we do with kids, especially during our summer programs.”
Betts stated that the Friends of the Library decided to hold this event at Goat Island to encourage a wider net of people to be involved with Cullman County’s Public Libraries. “We are really looking for ways to engage with people who maybe haven’t been big users of the library. We want to get people in because there’s lots of value to our library.”
“We felt like this would be a more visible place for people to come, and we have lots of variety as far as books go, children, adults, everything in between. You might find collections of books. A lot of it is current. People donate books to the library all the time, and they only keep so many on their shelves, so these are not just outdated books that somebody is throwing away,” she concluded.
