Mrs. Powell passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, February 14, 2022. She was born Friday, October 16, 1931, to E. U. and Gladys Miner.
Nell was known for always willing to help anyone, especially those who needed it most. Her cooking and sewing skills were immeasurable. She worked tirelessly throughout her life to scratch out a meager income to provide for her family. She was employed for many years at King Edward Cigar Plant, along with driving the CARTS bus and working at the GE plant in Decatur.
She was preceded in death by her sons: Keith Allbritten and Terry Allbritten; daughter-in-law: Pat Allbritten; parents and siblings: Norvell Miner, Grace Miner Laney, J. C. Miner, Donna Miner Butler and Jerry Miner.
Survivors include her sons: Don Allbritten, Perry (Karen) Allbritten and Charlie (Tanya) Allbritten; daughters: Robbie (Roy) Thomason, Susan (Kevin) Graves, Cindy Allbritten and Tara (Stan) Jennings; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother: Joe (JoAnn) Miner and sister-in-law: Geraldine Miner. She also had several that she thought of as her own children, especially Steven “Kid” Day and Edward “Green Jeans” Green, and all of her GE family.
The family would like to thank Kindred Hospice for providing excellent care and assistance throughout her lengthy declination of health. With their support of our sister, Cindy, Mother was able to remain in the comfort and peace of her home.
