CULLMAN, Ala. – Local home décor retail shop Leldon’s will be hosting “Art in the Warehouse District” on February 4 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The event will feature tastings from Holly Pond’s Alabama Mudd Coffee and artwork displays from five different artists from north/central Alabama: Emily Bussman, Katie Elise Designs, Lynda Goldstein, Laura Walker and Deborah McAfee.
Their choice of art style and medium varies, as well as where they draw inspiration in creating their pieces.
Emily Bussman blends digital and traditional mediums, as well as dabbles in various kinds of art. She teaches more art classes than creating her own pieces.
Katie Elise Designs is a self-taught artist that specializes in sculptural acrylics. She portrays southern themes like churches, old barns, hydrangeas and cotton fields.
Lynda Goldstein who is also a self-taught artist who began painting in 2017. Her inspirations come from nature and her surroundings. Her style incorporates metallic paints to draw attention to light and movement.
Laura Walker paints with emotion. She has been travelling the south-east for the past decade selling her art. She uses recycled frames and repurposed substrates. She has displayed her art in some of the top art shows in the country.
Deborah McAfee also uses recycled and discarded materials for her art. She uses broken glass, old jewelry, rusted metal or knotted wood to create her art pieces.
