A graveside service with military details for Asa Hulette Reid will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama. The cemetery is located at 3133 HWY 119, Montevallo, Alabama 35115.
Mr. Reid passed away on January 1, 2022 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born in Cullman County, Alabama on February 14, 1929.
Mr. Reid served in the U.S. Army for 25 years and retired as a Command Sergeant Major. He also served in Germany and Vietnam. While stationed in Germany, he met and fell in love with the woman he wanted to marry.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Friederika Schilling Reid. They lived in Huntsville, Alabama for approximately 52 years.
Mr. Reid was preceded in death by his parents: Olin Marshall Reid and Gladys Bice Baker; brother: Wilton Reid; sister: Melba Reid Sinyard and son: Edward Marshall Reid.
Other survivors include his sister: Nadene Reid Boatright of Gardendale, AL; brother: James Ray Baker (Linda) of Hanceville, AL and nieces: Barbara Sinyard Rowe (Jerry) of Tupelo, MS, Donna Marlene Sinyard of Cullman, AL, Donald Wayne Boatright (Sharon) of Birmingham, Alabama and Melissa Kay Boatright Gough of Maylene, Alabama.
