HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – For those looking for a fun New Year’s activity and who enjoy gliding on ice, Skating in the Park in Huntsville has you covered. Since opening on November 19, the skaters have not stopped.

The rink will be open to skate until January 17, 2022, at which time it will be closed until next season.

“We have seen a surge of families coming to skate this holiday season. It has become a tradition for many people in the region and provides a unique outdoor activity. We are looking forward to our New Year’s Eve festivities, and we have extended our dates this year to give people an extra week to come have fun on the ice,” Skating in the Park shared with The Tribune.

Additionally, Skating in the Park will have fun for the entire family with events for children and adults on New Year’s Eve. The Lil’ Ball Drop at 8:30 p.m. will allow younger skaters to celebrate, while older skaters can ring in 2022 with the Glow Up event beginning at 9:00 p.m. and another Ball Drop at midnight.
