GOOD HOPE, Ala. – The West Point Warriors and Lady Warriors traveled to Good Hope for a pair of county matchups Tuesday night, but they were sent home with a pair of losses by the Raiders and Lady Raiders. Good Hope took the varsity girls’ game 68-49 and the boys defeated West Point 76-45 to complete the sweep.

Good Hope 68 – West Point 49 (Varsity Girls)

Good Hope got off to a hot start to the game as Bailey Tetro and Ivey Maddox hit back-to-back threes to give the Lady Raiders a quick 6-0 lead not even a minute into the game. West Point’s Liberty Shadix hit a layup to put them on the scoreboard with 5:52 remaining in the first quarter. A Heather Tetro layup stretched Good Hope’s lead to 10-4, but the Lady Warriors got a layup from Bethany Minck and a trey from Laklin Shadix as they trimmed the deficit to just one at 10-9. But Maddox had a quick answer, drilling back-to-back long-range shots as the Lady Raiders went into the second period with a 16-11 lead. Maddox had 11 of Good Hope’s 16 first-quarter points.

A Liberty Shadix trey cut the deficit to two to start out the second period, but Good Hope took over after that as Charly Johnson hit a layup to make it 18-14. Bailey Tetro scored the next eight points and Maddox scored the next four points after that as the Lady Raiders quickly increased their lead to 30-14 with less than three minutes to go in the first half. Back-to-back baskets by Ryleigh Jones made it a 12-point game, but Bailey Tetro drilled her fourth trey of the first half as Good Hope held a 33-18 lead at the half.

West Point looked to trim into the deficit to start out the second half. A Hallie Wheeler trey and a Jones free throw made it a 33-22 game. Another Maddox trey, though, quickly made it a 36-22 contest. Another Wheeler trey cut the deficit to 11 at 38-27, but baskets by Maddox and Johnson stretched Good Hope’s lead to 42-27. After a Braelee Quinn layup made it 47-34, Rudi Derrick hit-back-to-back baskets down low to give the Lady Raiders a 51-34 lead and Good Hope would go into the final period with a 53-36 advantage.

A Renee McLeod layup and a pair of Derrick saw Good Hope push their lead to 57-36 to start out the fourth quarter. A Liberty Shadix trey and a Jones layup cut the Lady Raider lead to 59-44, but they wouldn’t get any closer after that as a pair of Kyndall Seal treys and one by Maddox quickly sealed a huge 68-49 win for the Lady Raiders. With that win, Good Hope’s winning streak is now up to 10 games.

Maddox led the way for Good Hope (12-2) with 23 points. Bailey Tetro added 16 points. Derrick ended up with eight points. Seal and Johnson each added six points. Tanner Malin and Tyler Cone scored Good Hope’s next straight points to give them a 20-10 lead and the Raiders would go into the second quarter with a 24-14 lead.

Jacob Haynes added a layup to make it 31-15 and later drilled three free throws to increase Good Hope’s lead to 34-17. Back-to-back layups by Malin and O’Neil stretched the Raider lead to 38-17 and Good Hope would go into the half with a 38-17 advantage.

A pair of Kolten Perry free throws made it a 38-19 game to start out the second half, but a 10-0 Raider run quickly put to rest any hope of a West Point comeback. A pair of baskets by Bell and a three each from O’Neil and Cone saw the Warriors looking at a 19-point deficit at 48-29. Back-to-back-treys from Jayden Laney and Jay Lamar did cut the deficit to 13 at 48-35, but Cone and Malin scored the team’s final six points of the quarter as Good Hope held a comfortable 54-30 lead after three periods.

West Point looked to make one more run to try and get back in the game as baskets by Lamar and Cade Simmons and an Andrew Lynn trey cut the Raider lead to 59-37, but eight straight points from Tanner and Tucker Malin quickly pushed Good Hope’s lead to 69-40.
