Alfie Mae Smith, 84, of Double Springs entered into rest on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Alfie was born on February 16, 1937 in Double Springs, Alabama. Alfie loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved going to church, to singings, going out to eat and traveling. She also loved sewing, canning, collecting purses, decorating with chickens and taking care of live chickens.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 12, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Double Springs, where funeral service will be held on Monday, December 13, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Double Springs. Brother Jim Robins will officiate.
Alfie is survived by her daughters: Barbara (Ronnie) Roberson, Helen (Charles) Nix, Pam Hunter and Jackie (Ricky) Robins; grandchildren: Anthony (Cheryl) Nix, Bobbie Kay (Josh) Dunnington, Christy (Kevin) Ward, Brandon Robins, Lucas Hunter, John England and Charlie Roberson; great-grandchildren: Blake Ward, Brandon England, Jacob England, Landen Nix, Ashton Dunnington, Avrie Dunnington, Eli Nix, Raylan Ward and Sawyer England; siblings: Virgie Lewis, Mary Gunter and Oneal Carter; special friend: David Wilson and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Tommy Lee Smith; granddaughter: Rebecca Leeann England; son-in-law: Bobby Dean Hunter Jr.; parents: Virgle and Purnia Carter; brothers: Doyce Carter, Jerry Carter, Bobby Ray Carter and Gene Carter; sister: Kathy Carter and parents-in-law: George and Radie Smith.
