Good Hope 83 – Curry 16 (Varsity Girls)
Good Hope jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead to start out the contest behind seven points from Ivey Maddox and a three-point play from Heather Tetro. Curry got on the scoreboard with a layup, but Kyndall Seal and Bailey Tetro hit back-to-back layups to make it a 14-2 game. Baskets from Heather and Bailey Tetro and Rudi Derrick helped the Lady Raiders push their lead to 21-4 after one period.
Good Hope kept adding on to their lead in the second period. A basket by Charly Johnson, a three-point play from Maddox, and five straight points from Desire Odachowski saw the Lady Raiders push their lead to 32-6. A Lexi Collins trey made it 35-8 and Good Hope would take a commanding 39-10 lead into the locker room.
The second half was more of the same as the Lady Raiders absolutely swarmed Curry defensively, forcing numerous turnovers and getting some easy baskets as well. They got red-hot from three-point range as Good Hope (6-2, 1-0) nailed 10 treys in the second half; the Lady Raiders ended up hitting 14 threes on the night, which ties the record from last season, as they would go on to take their region opener in convincing fashion, 83-16. Good Hope has now won four straight games.
Every Lady Raider player found the scoring column in the game, led by Heather Tetro, who finished with 20 points. Odachowski and Derrick each added 13 points. Maddox ended up with 11 points. Bailey Tetro added 10 points. Seal ended up with five points. Renee McLeod and Johnson each finished with four points, while Collins added three points.
Good Hope 56 – Curry 38 (Varsity Boys)
Curry scored the first two baskets of the game to take a quick 4-0 lead, but Good Hope’s K’mal Bell and Colton Lindsey scored their team’s first six points of the game to take a 6-4 lead with 4:29 remaining in the first period. Late in the first quarter, a Lindsey three-point play gave the Raiders a 9-8 lead and a pair of Tanner Malin baskets pushed the Good Hope lead to 13-10 going into the second period.
A Bell layup and a Malin trey made it an eight-point game to start out the second quarter. A mini-run by Curry, though, cut the Raider lead to five at 20-15 more than midway through the second period. The Yellow Jackets then cut it to 21-17, but later on, a technical on one of the Curry players proved costly for them as Bell nailed both of his free throws to make it a six-point game. Each team traded baskets to end the first half as the Raiders would go into the half holding a slim 25-19 lead.
The third period was all Good Hope as they completely shut down Curry offensively while getting a good quarter from Tanner Malin as he scored eight in the period, while Tucker Malin added a three, Noah Barnette hit a layup, and Colton Lindsey nailed a free throw. The Raiders outscored the Yellow Jackets, 14-4, in the third quarter as they increased their lead to 39-24 going into the final period.
Good Hope added on to their lead in the fourth quarter as Tucker Malin hit a layup and Jacob Haynes scored five straight points to push their lead to 46-24 and they would go on cruise control from there as all but two Raiders found themselves in the scoring column in the contest. Good Hope ended up rolling past Curry in their region opener, 56-38, as they have now won three in a row.
