HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Cullman High School had 10 swimmers in the field at last weekend’s AHSAA North Sectional Meet at the Huntsville Aquatics Center and all 10 of them earned a spot in this year’s State Meet. Both the CHS boys’ and girls’ teams placed seventh overall in the combined 6A and 7A division. Of the 10 competing Bearcat swimmers, all of them progressed to finals on Saturday in at least one event as well as securing at least one state qualifying time. Between relay and individual events, each swimmer came away with at least one seasonal best time, including new school records from Madison Clements in both the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly along with a new record from Ruby Hudson in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Top 10 event finishes included:
- Women’s 200-yard medley relay (fifth) and 200-yard freestyle relay (fifth) – Morgan Fuller, Ruby Hudson, Anna Page and Madison Clements
- Men’s 200-yard medley relay (sixth), 200-yard freestyle relay (fifth), and 400-yard freestyle relay (fifth) – Brody Schaefer, Hilson Cole, Chase Duncan and CJ Arnold
- Madison Clements – 200-yard freestyle (second) and 100-yard butterfly (third)
- Ruby Hudson – 100-yard breaststroke (sixth) and 100-yard freestyle (eighth)
- Brody Schaefer – 50-yard freestyle (10th)
- Chase Duncan – 100-yard backstroke (10th)
Cullman’s state qualifiers will return to Auburn University December 3 and 4 for the 2021 AHSAA state swim meet.
