CULLMAN, Ala. – The 42,000 pieces of candy that the Cullman Police Department purchased for their annual Trunk or Treat event on Wednesday night ran out before 7 p.m. because of the phenomenal support and attendance from the community.
CPD Police Chief Kenny Culpepper said just before 7 p.m., officers left to buy additional candy for the remainder of the event. It was scheduled to last from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
“We bought another shopping cart full of candy, around $300, to finish the night off and make sure everyone was able to participate,” Culpepper said.
“It was tremendous success, everyone had a good time. The weather held out and we were very thankful. We truly appreciate Merchant’s Bank, our sponsor for the event, their employees, our employees and the Cullman Fire Rescue for coming and helping.”
Culpepper said they didn’t host the event in 2020, so they were thrilled to have it this Halloween season.
“This was our fourth year hosting the event, and we couldn’t have done with in the capacity that we did without Merchant’s Bank, the support of our city and all the employees and their families.”
