HANCEVILLE, Ala. – A Hanceville man was arrested and charged with 11 grand jury indictments of child pornography through a multi-division collaborative effort.

The Cullman County Sheriff’s Office works with many agencies to keep the citizens of Cullman County safe. One such group is ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children).

Working with ICAC, investigators were able to obtain grand jury indictments for Brett Alan Cole, 52, of Hanceville. He was arrested Oct. 23 and charged with 11 grand jury indictments of possession of child pornography (children under the age of 17.)

According to the CCSO, illegal images were recovered from his devices after the ICAC was able to retrieve his IP address. They receive tips and follow up with local agencies and while working together. It’s a collaborative work between the CCSO, Cullman Police Department and ICAC.

“There is nothing more valuable than our children,” Sheriff Matt Gentry said. “Protecting them and their innocence may be our most important role in law enforcement. We want parents and their children to know they are safe here in Cullman County. I am thankful to all involved in getting this potential threat behind bars.”
