FAIRVIEW, Ala. — On a chilly October night, Fairview wasted no time putting the Sardis Lions away. Behind Fairview’s star backfield the Aggies won it 56-14 and after yet another dominating win, Fairview has improved to 8-1 on the season, 6-1 in 5A Region 7.

Starting on defense Fairview and Sardis traded a few three and outs before the Fairview offense came to life. Senior quarterback Parker Martin connected with sophomore running back Eli Frost for a 25-yard completion before Martin capped off the drive with a 2-yard plunge for a 7-0 lead.

After stopping a promising Sardis drive Fairview forced a punt and took over at their own 20-yard line. After big Frost runs of 21 and 11 yards Martin again took it in himself just two plays later, this time from 44 yards out.

Fairview was able to force another three and out after Ethan Bice and Caden Jennings each broke up a pass to force the punt. This time around Martin would find Jameson Goble for a couple passes totaling 55 yards before Frost took his turn finding the end zone putting Fairview up 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.

The dominance continued on the following Lion possession when Martin intercepted a deep ball and took it 85 yards to the house for a 28-0 lead.

On the next play from scrimmage Carson Jennings recovered a fumble and a few later Martin hit Frost on a screen pass that went 42 yards for a touchdown and 35-0 second quarter lead. Senior Bryson Chamness would grab an interception on the following drive and set up a crazy series of events.

Two plays into the Aggie drive Frost would take a hand off 50 yards for a score. A few seconds later Sardis took a kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown. And just moments later Martin took a kickoff 81 yards giving us a 49-6 score.

Fairview wrapped up the half behind 38 more yards from Frost, before he finished the half off with a 1-yard touchdown run. With the second and third string finishing the rest of the game it concluded with the 56-14 final.

Frost exploded for four touchdowns and 210 total yards of offense. As the season continues Frost keeps gaining more and more steam and this offensive has adapted to get the ball in 3’s hands much more often. Fairview head coach George Redding had this to say on Frost’s breakout season, “He’s so explosive. He provides so many big plays. He can break tackles, he’s fast, he can make a guy miss, he catches the ball out of the backfield. Having him and Parker back there with our receiver group and line up front just really have been huge for us this season.”

Martin ended his spectacular night with 356 total yards and five touchdowns, scoring four different ways (rushing, passing, interception return, and kickoff return). Martin had this to say on the big night,

“It’s great to just get another win,” Martin said. “We know there are dog fights ahead, so we have to keep getting better.”

Frost added, “We push a lot of sleds at the end of practice, so we’ve had this mindset of being ‘sled dogs.’ We just want to be aggressive and get after teams quick.”

If it’s possible to have a concern for a team firing on all cylinders it’s got to be conditioning. This team hasn’t played in a fourth quarter since Boaz and the only other one was Guntersville, where their 13-12 4th quarter lead turned into a 34-19 loss once they ran out of gas.

Beating teams so bad your starters don’t play in second half’s is a great problem to have, but it’s not one Aggies Head Coach George Redding isn’t aware of, “You know usually we don’t do as much conditioning at this point in the season, but we’ve really focused on ending practices with conditioning and a lot of pushing sleds,” Redding said. “We know we will have some fourth quarter battles so we’re trying to make sure our guys are ready.”

In just two weeks the Aggies will be hosting Fairfield, who finished as the three seed in 5A Region 5, potentially the best region in 5A. But before that Fairview will finish the regular season with a trip to county rival Holly Pond before they return home for the first round of the playoffs.
