PREP VOLLEYBALL: Addison advances to state tournament; Cullman, Arab fall at North Super Regional

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Three local squads were in Huntsville for this year’s North Super Regional Volleyball Tournament Wednesday and one of them is advancing to next week’s state tournament in Birmingham. The Addison Lady Bulldogs dominated Altamont (25-11, 25-8, 25-11) and Athens Bible (25-11, 25-4, 25-10) in the 2A North Super Regional Wednesday, punching their ticket to their 20th consecutive state tournament. Addison will be back on the court at 12:45 p.m. Thursday to continue playing in the North Super Regional with a chance to improve its seeding for the Class 2A state tournament next week.

Cullman and Arab were also in Huntsville Wednesday competing in the 6A North Super Regional. The Lady Bearcats downed Jasper (25-15, 18-25, 17-25, 25-21, 15-13) in the opening round but fell to Mountain Brook in their next match (10-25, 21-25, 21-25) and finished the season 39-22. The Lady Knights of Arab also won their opening round match, sweeping Mortimer Jordan (25-13, 25-10, 25-17) but were eliminated in the next round after falling to Hazel Green (22-25, 19-25, 23-25).
