BREMEN, Ala. — The Cold Springs Eagles looked to make history on Monday night when they hosted the Curry Yellow Jackets and behind a huge night on the ground and a smothering defensive performance, they rolled past Curry 42-0 to cap off their first 8-0 season in school history.

Cold Springs got the ball to start off the game and Matthew Williams, Clayton Terry, and Tycen Kilgo helped the Eagles move the ball down to the 32-yard line. Mason Gable finished off the seven-play, 65-yard drive with a 32-yard quarterback keeper around the right side to give the Eagles an 8-0 lead with 4:51 remaining in the first quarter. Cold Springs forced a quick three-and-out and that ended up becoming a theme for their defense for almost the whole night.

The Eagles kept the ball on the ground in its second series as Williams and Gable wore out the Yellow Jacket defense. A Williams nine-yard gain gave the Eagles a first down and on the next play, Gable found Brady Phillips all by himself for a 32-yard score and that gave Cold Springs a 16-0 lead with 1:01 remaining in the first quarter. The Eagles got the ball after another three-and-out by Curry, and they continued to pound the ball on the ground as Williams, Terry, and Ethan Day each got a first down during the drive. Williams finished off the series with a hard-nosed six-yard score to increase the Cold Springs lead to 22-0.

After a turnover-on-downs by the Yellow Jackets, the Eagles found the end zone once again as Day found Tidus Light for a 19-yard score to make the score 28-0 and Light picked off a Curry pass to end the first half.

The Eagles added a couple of more touchdowns in the second half. Ethan Klar recovered a fumble to start out the second half for Cold Springs and later on, Cason Alexander scored on a two-yard run. William Jackson capped off the scoring for the Eagles with a 1-yard run and the Cold Springs defense kept the Yellow Jackets off the scoreboard for the whole game as they ended up shutting out Curry 42-0 and finishing the season 8-0. The Eagles end the regular season with eight wins for the first time in school history.

Williams finished the night with 76 yards on 10 carries for Cold Springs (8-0). Gable added 43 more yards on the ground and a touchdown; he also went 2/4 for 39 yards and a touchdown. Alexander ended up with 18 yards rushing and a touchdown. Jackson added a touchdown as well and Day added a 19-yard touchdown pass.
