PREP FOOTBALL: West Point blows past Crossville 43-6

WEST POINT, Ala. – After collecting a 14-6 win on the road over Hayden last week, the West Point Warriors returned home Friday night to host Crossville in their homecoming matchup. The Warriors built a big lead early in the opening quarter and kept Crossville at bay in the second half to secure a 43-6, region win over the Lions.

West Point struck early when Kelton Washington punched in his first touchdown of the night to give the Warriors a 6-0 lead and Ashton Thrailkill carried in the two-point conversion to make it 8-0. Washington’s second touchdown of the night, followed by a two-point run from Garit Roberson stretched the lead to 16-0 and Brian Cornelius found the end zone from 2 yards out to make it a 23-0 game with just over two minutes to play in the opening quarter.

Suyeta DrowningBear burst through the line and sprinted for a 60-yard touchdown to put the Warriors on top 30-0 at the start of the second quarter. Washington’s third touchdown run of the night extended the West Point lead to 36-0 and the Warriors were able to put another score on the board before the break to make it a 43-0 game at halftime.

West Point took its foot off the gas in the second half and the Lions were able to get one touchdown on the board but couldn’t chip away any more than that and the Warriors went on to collect a 43-6 win.

The Warriors improve to 4-2 win the win and will be back home next week to take on Sardis.
