ARLEY, Ala. – Meek had last week off to prepare for Friday night’s regional matchup with Marion County and the Tigers didn’t disappoint. Meek jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the opening quarter and after taking a 20-8 lead into the half, pulled away from the Red Raiders to win it 34-14.

A pair of early touchdowns put the Tigers on top 14-0 with just over two minutes to play in the first quarter, but Marion County managed to get on the board on the final play of the period. After a successful two-point conversion, the Red Raiders trailed just 14-8 going into the second quarter.

Meek responded and punched another touchdown into the end zone with 8:36 to play in the second to go up 20-8. The Tigers’ defense kept Marion County off the board in the second quarter and went into the halftime break with a 20-8 lead.

Midway thought the third quarter, Meek put six more points on the board to extend its lead to 26-8 with just under six minutes remaining in the third. The Tigers held that lead going into the fourth quarter and added to it early in the period, making it a 34-8 game with around 10 minutes left to play. The Red Raiders were able to find the end zone once again shortly after Meek’s touchdown but couldn’t get any closer than that and the Tigers collected a 34-14 region win over Marion County.

Meek improves to 4-2 this season with the win and will be on the road next week to face the Lynn Bears.
