BREMEN, Ala. — Addison traveled to Bremen to take on the Cold Springs Eagles in a region game as only one team could snap their respective losing streak. The Bulldogs had a big night on the ground and on defense as they rolled to a 37-13 road win over Cold Springs.

The first three possessions saw three punts as both teams played stout defense early on. The second Cold Springs’ punt was short, and it put Addison in excellent field position at the 23-yard line. On just the third play of the series, Justin Mather found the end zone on a 12-yard run to give the Bulldogs a 6-0 lead. The Eagles looked to answer on its next series, but after picking up a first down on an 11-yard pass from Seth Williams to Victor Laurentius, Cold Springs coughed up the ball and the Bulldogs’ Connor Smith fell on the loose ball at the 36.

Big runs by Eli Howse (19 yards), Mather (10 yards) and Will Tuggle (10 yards) quickly put Addison at the seven-yard line and Jack Wilson found the end zone two plays later on a hard-nosed two-yard run to increase the Bulldog lead to 12-0 with 11:01 remaining in the first half. The Eagles countered with a big series of its own as Dylan Smith, Hank Harrison and Laurentius picked up huge first downs during the drive. Laurentius and Harrison each converted on a huge fourth down conversion during the drive. After the second fourth down conversion, Seth Williams rolled right and found Winfrey; he broke a couple of tackles and made a nice spin move before finding the end zone on a 31-yard score as the Eagles made it a 12-6 game with 4:25 remaining in the first half.

Addison looked to answer on its next series. They were faced with a first-and-23 from the 37-yard line after a block-in-the-back penalty, but that didn’t faze them one bit as Jed Wilkins found Howse for 11 yards and two plays later, Wilkins scampered for 12 more and a first down. The Bulldogs would find the end zone to end the first half as Mather scored on an 18-yard run to make it 18-6 at the half.

There would be only one touchdown in the third quarter and that was on Addison’s opening drive of the third quarter. Mather got 57 yards on the ground during the series, which ended with him finding the end zone on a 12-yard run as that increased the Bulldogs’ lead to 25-6. Wilkins scored on a 14-yard run in the fourth period. Cold Springs put up their final score of the game on a two-yard run by Laurentius, but the Bulldogs’ Jacob Mauldin scored the final touchdown of the game for Addison on a 32-yard run. The Bulldogs snap their three-game losing streak with a 37-13 win over the Eagles.

Mather finished with 103 yards on just 10 carries and three scores for Addison (4-3, 2-2). Wilkins added 42 more on the ground and a touchdown. Mauldin scored on the 32-yard run. Tuggle added 57 more on the ground. Smith finished with a fumble recovery for the Bulldogs.

Williams finished 7/11 for 89 yards and a touchdown for Cold Springs (0-6, 0-3). Winfrey added 40 receiving yards and a touchdown. Laurentius ended up with 33 rushing yards and a score, while Smith ended up with 40 rushing yards.

Addison will travel to take on Lamar County next Friday in what will be another huge region game for the Bulldogs, while Cold Springs will host Midfield as they look to pick up their first win next Friday.
