CULLMAN, Ala. – Local students and parents will have a chance to learn more about the college and career opportunities available right here in Cullman County at the upcoming Cullman City Schools/Wallace State Community College Career & College Exploration event.

The event is set for Monday, October 11 from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. It will be hosted at Cullman High School in the front lobby, Tillman Hall and the library. College planning seminars are also scheduled for 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. at the Cullman High School auditorium. The event is open to families of students in grades 6-12.

“This is a great way for parents and students to find out about all the fantastic opportunities offered at Wallace State, as well as some of the careers you can have at local businesses and industries,” Cullman City Schools Superintendent Kyle Kallhoff said. “It’s an opportunity for students planning to attend college to get more information about those next steps, and for students looking to enter the workforce to see which certifications and career opportunities are available.”

Local business and industry partners, as well as representatives from Wallace State Community College (Liberal Arts, Health Science, Applied Technology, and S.T.E.M.) will be available to provide hands-on demonstrations of various programs and fields of study that can lead to future employment and careers.

Students can explore and learn about dual-enrollment opportunities, careers in nursing, mechatronics, aviation, electronics, robotics, welding, machine tool technology and S.T.E.M.

Attendance incentives (gift cards and more) will also be provided through random drawings the following school day for students who attend.
