CULLMAN, Ala. – The commission meeting room was standing room only Tuesday as friends and colleagues came to congratulate Patricia “Trish” South on her retirement after 32 years of service with the ALEA Driver’s License Division. She was presented with several plaques and certificates in recognition of her many years working in Cullman County.
South was named Alabama Driver License Examiner of the Year. In 2011, South was the recipient of the IDEC Outstanding Examiner of the Year Award.
South retired at the beginning of September and looks forward to spending time with her grandchildren. She said to all who came out to wish her the best, “I appreciate everybody coming and the show of appreciation. I worked with some great folks. That’s what I miss is the people. I don’t miss the getting up.”
