VINEMONT, Ala. — After splitting their matchups with Colbert Heights and Falkville last Thursday, the Vinemont Lady Eagles returned home Tuesday night to face off against East Lawrence in an area matchup. Vinemont edged East Lawrence in the opening set but pulled away to take the next two sets and collect a 3-0 area win.
Vinemont 25 – East Lawrence 22 (First set)
It was a back-and-forth battle in the first set as East Lawrence jumped out to a 4-2 lead, but Vinemont came back to tie it up at four. East Lawrence pushed their lead to 8-5, but a huge point from Emilie Hoffman and an ace by Rylie Perkins made it a one-point game. Later on, Vinemont started to pull away from East Lawrence as they scored five straight points, they got a couple of aces from Jana Harbison during that stretch and Vinemont stretched their lead to 20-13. But East Lawrence made things very interesting after that as they went on a huge run to make it 23-22. Hoffman, though, finished off East Lawrence with the game-winning ace to help Vinemont take the first set 25-22.
Harbison finished with three aces, three points, and an assist for Vinemont. Smith added a pair of points and an ace. Hoffman ended up with two points and an ace. Perkins finished with a point and an ace, while Magdalen Burks added a kill.

A mini run by East Lawrence saw them take a 10-7 lead. Behind back-to-back aces from Perkins, Vinemont got the lead right back at 12-10 and later stretched it to 16-11. Despite some mini runs by East Lawrence, it wasn’t enough as Vinemont finished off game two strong, scoring the final six points; three of those points were aces by Burks and Vinemont took game two, 25-14.

Vinemont 25 – East Lawrence 18 (Third set)
For the second straight set, Vinemont got off to a very shaky start as they quickly fell behind 7-2. Once again, they cooked up a big rally as Harbison had four straight aces at one point and that helped Vinemont take an 8-7 lead. Later on, a trio of aces by Brooklyn Knott helped Vinemont stretch their lead to 13-9. There was no quit in East Lawrence at all as they stayed close for most of the contest, cutting it to two or three multiple times, but Vinemont was just a little too much for them at the end, scoring five of the final six points, including a huge kill from Thompson, as Vinemont took game three, 25-18, completing the three-game sweep of East Lawrence.
