CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman County Sheriff’s Deputies spotted a suspicious vehicle at a closed business near the Gold Ridge community in the early hours of Friday morning.

The CCSO K-9 ‘Big’ was deployed, and a “free air sniff” of the vehicle was conducted.

Big alerted on the vehicle and a search was conducted. Just over 0.5 pound of meth was recovered from the vehicle along with drug paraphernalia.

Rodney Lang Smith, 32, of Cullman was arrested and charged with drug trafficking, possession of drug paraphernalia, assault/harassment (warrant).

“I am extremely proud of how proactive and diligent our deputies are each and every day,” said Sheriff Matt Gentry. “I am also proud of our K-9 unit and the amazing work they continue to do. The K-9 program is a huge asset for us and the citizens of Cullman County.”
