Burthel Mae Blackmon, age 86, of Cullman, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021. Burthel was born July 22, 1935 in Alabama.
Burthel is survived by her sister: Luvell (Arvil) Nix; her grandchildren: Scott (Amanda) Shoemaker, Stephanie (Jody) Marotz, Carly (Jaiden Philyaw) Wren and Kristin Chambers; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Burthel was preceded in death by her husband: Leelan Blackmon; her daughter: Amy Shoemaker; her son: Greg Chambers; parents: Newton Jasper and Lula Mae Handley Powell; her brother: Emmitt Powell and her sisters: Mary Powell, Hazel Chaney and Margie Wynn.
A visitation for Burthel will be held Saturday, September 4, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Moss-Service Funeral Home (1901 2nd Avenue, N.W., Cullman, Alabama 35055). A celebration of life funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. An interment will occur at Cullman City Cemetery (812 9th Ave SW, Cullman, Alabama 35055).
